Briefly Describe Your Organization's Philosophy Towards Patient Care |
At Bay Area Medical Center, our primary goals are to be the Employer of Choice and the Provider of Choice. The typical patient and family member cannot evaluate our clinical expertise but rather judge our people skills and form opinions of the hospital by how well they were treated. BAMC continually challenges every employee to take personal responsibility to shape and improve the working environment. Employees who feel good about themselves and the work they perform provide better quality patient care and create an environment favorable to their own health, as well as the health of others.
You will hear about our signature project Service Care in our hallways, on posters, and in hospital wide events. The purpose of Service Care is to work with seven established standards of service for each employee in your department to follow on a daily basis for each patient, guest, physician and co-worker. Service Care is the platform upon which we build a “Culture for Success.” The seven standards of Service Care are used as our benchmark for the employee recognition program and employee annual reviews. Here are the seven standards;
1) Make Positive First Impressions Our First Priority. Initiate the interaction with patients, guests and co-workers. Help others feel welcome and important. Be genuine and sincere with others. Remember to smile.
2) Treat Others as Guests. Treat every visitor and employee as a respected and important guest. Make your first contact with others positive. Encourage and affirm patients, guests and co-workers.
3) Develop Service Recovery. Turn negative situations into positive experiences. Acknowledge, Apologize, and Amend. Take ownership and personal responsibility. Demonstrate integrity.
4) Communicate Effectively. Develop excellent listening skills and give others your undivided attention. Clarify communication by summarizing information given. Always provide timely feedback.
5) Serve Others with a Team Centered Approach. Support all members of your team. Development team involvement throughout the department and BAMC. Encourage a better understanding of the needs of other departments.
6) Project a Positive Attitude. Work at becoming a positive person with those around you. Be an example to those around you, walk the talk. Encourage ideas and feedback from patients, guests and co-workers.
7) Make Excellence the Goal in Everything We Do. Challenge yourself and each member of the team to achieve your best. Set goals to accomplish success. Commit to being 1% better tomorrow than you were today.
To be competitive we must strive to incorporate these principles in the way we do business. This is a long-term commitment and each and every employee must be willing to exemplify these standards daily. Join us as we build a “Culture for Success” and establish a better working environment at Bay Area Medical Center. |
